I've found this SA thread, this guide and this reference site useful, but things like a list of ship-upgrades with explanations and prerequisites would be very useful.Īlso, I can see there are some books set in the universe, are any of them worth reading? The horrible voiceacting ingame makes me wary, but the storylines might be worth reading. Are there reference material anywhere that covers the basics?
#X3 TERRAN CONFLICT CHANGE SECTOR SIZE MANUAL#
The manual (pdf - I got it from Steam) is in a pretty hard-to-read font, and not very easy to navigate. Mission dificulty - is that based on my current ship, rank or something else? Does it take any backup I brought into account? I also just managed to fail a mission and be reported as a thief because a pilot was dicking around instead of flying where I told him to go Sometimes they'll just fly around the base like idiots, and I have to reissue the order several times. I am having dificulties making my other ships dock.

Modal dialogs instead of proper windows makes baby jesus cry. I'm beginning to get the hang of it, although parts of the interface design seems really stupid.

The docking computer saves a ton of time, the best buys computer is a must for trading and the best scanning/combat mods are helpful. My personal favorite way to make credits is Sector/Universe traders, which are automated traders who do the dirty work for you of buying and selling. Combat missions, especially sector defense are very good money. You can also trade (energy cells < crystals < silicon). To get easy money, do missions and sell the extremely valuable stuff you get from them (ships). There are some very cheesy, easy ways to get money and some more difficult. It can take out other M5s and some M4 with fancy flying. Good for scouting, but it's fairly weak in the vanilla game. You can filter the sector map to show enemies by range, however, target nearest enemy is very useful as well. The triplex scanner is the longest range. Sector items are limited to showing based on your equipped scanner range. Learning keyboard shortcuts makes the game much easier to play and enjoy. Some commands require certain mods to be on the ship however. From there you can give them orders like follow me, attach all targets, etc. You can give commands to other ships by either showing your owned ships and choosing command console on them, or by targeting them and choosing command console. anything I should install? I'm not in need of a ton of storyline or things like that, but obvious interface improvements or other things that augment the out-of-box experience? I have <4k credits, so that dream is quite some way offĪny strategy pointers for gathering credits in the very early game?
